Kevin and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary this week! I can no longer say that it "just feels like yesterday." We have truckloads of memories from all those years and I'm proud of them. We've filled up our lives with the good work of raising kids, helping others, and making memories. I'm glad it's always been him and me.

In fact, to celebrate, we went to check out our newest venture together--a short-term rental in Kissimmee, Florida. We bought it a couple of months ago but this was our first chance to see it in person and make plans for upgrades to turn it into the kind of place we really want it to be! We had a great time together meeting with a designer, the property manager, and doing some cleaning, painting, and shopping for the place itself. We did also enjoy some vacation-typical activities like swimming, shopping a flea market, and walking around Disney Springs and Universal Studio's City Walk.

We were gone Wednesday through Saturday and our kids said they missed us, but they sure seemed to do just fine! The older kids worked a lot and Beth and Ben did things with their neighborhood friends. Ben tells me that he did read but he didn't do any Chinese or guitar. The house was in pretty good shape when we got back, too! I am super pleased that my kids can take care of themselves so well, but it is weird to realize how much less I am needed than I used to be. I have done a lot of talking with my kids since I've been back. That's where they still need me and always will. I guess it's not such a bad place to transition to!
