I love it when my kids do stuff together and this Friday night, Kevin and I came back from our date to find them all around the card table playing Clue. Six kids from 18 to 6. I love that they enjoy each other!
Sarah worked her last four days at Funfinity this week. I'd like to say that she was sad to go, but she is so DONE with working and so ready to go off to college! She wanted to go out for a milkshake after work one day this week and four of her friends dropped all they were doing and they all went out together! On Saturday, she and Jakob rode the Front Runner up to Lagoon and they rode roller coasters for five hours and then played card games on the ride back to Provo.
Megan started easing back into sports this week by going on bike rides. On Wednesday we went to see her surgeon for a follow-up appointment and he gave her the go-ahead to do "light jogging" and "doubles tennis." If anything hurts, she's supposed to stop! She went to tennis practice that same day and played in the tennis match against Uintah on Thursday! Watch out world! She's back!
Mariah continued to run amazingly hard cross country practices everyday and also went to basketball open gym once as well as found time to keep working on her free throws. She has some tough classes and has been doing hours of homework as well! On Saturday, she ran in the BYU Autumn Classic and placed second on her team for the varsity race. She is one super-fast girl!
Cali and Cheyenne tried out for the junior high tennis team this week. Tryouts were on Tuesday and they found out on Thursday that they made the team! They are super excited. Junior High was marginally less boring this week, so they are feeling a bit more optimistic about their chances of surviving this time in their lives.
Bethany and Benjamin are enjoying their elementary school. Beth has started homework but not Ben. When he starts, good-bye to my afternoons! Right now, they continue to play with friends in what continues to be hot summer afternoons.
I finished making visits this week and went to the temple and gave names to the bishop for callings and also did month-end for my accounting job. I also took the time to go on another hike with my good friend, Robin. It was over six miles and the first three miles were a steady climb. I've been sore for three days! It hurts so good.
Kevin taught at a conference last week in Heber. He is pretty cool that way and pretty in demand. He continues to do cool stuff with his business and spends all his evenings at home practicing tennis with Cali, Chey, and Megan and practicing basketball with Mariah--usually he finds time for both every night. He is a dedicated sports dad and we love him!
